Brickout Is Ready!

Hey!

Brickout is finally ready for first release! Yeah!!

Only thing is… I need to figure out how to add a portfolio that my current theme can use!! Or, maybe switch themes. Welp, let me figure that part out.

In the meantime, here is a video play through, although I didn’t get very far, haha!

On to the next game project! Thanks for staying with me!

Of course, I can make games like this for you too. If you’re interested, please get in touch with me by clicking here or e-mailing me directly at:

Thanks,

  1. I absolutely loved the 16-bit feel through the entire game. Specifically the background and cool power-up gems. It was also interesting to see the twist on breakout with the descending ceiling, similar to those arcade puzzle games.

Breakout is generally a game where you play a little of and the tedium sets in as you progress, but the fresh designs here really help keep the game interesting and challenging all the way through.

    1. Thanks, Shin!

Yeah, the descending blocks (that’s exactly what I called it in the code too), is a design idea I got from Super Breakout on the Atari 2600.

Each different color brick gives you a different power-up. The red one gives you either a Blitz Ball or the Bomb. But since the red blocks are at the top, they’re a bit difficult to get to. They would have descended already (thus changing color). However, when a row of blocks have descended to the bottom, they will start over again at the top.

And the music is just one of the songs I made. The game over is actually one of several songs played randomly. Of course, the Unity version (still WIP) has songs for each level as well.
